Phase II: B2B Mobile App Feature Buildout

This client is now leading the industry with its first-of-its-kind mobile and web-based apps for multiple B2B customers. This client continued its partnership with Trility to expand the features and functionalities to increase sales, enhance customer experience, and reduce operational costs with online support for order and warranty management.

Problem Statement

This client has previously hired a team to help with the initial development of a B2B mobile application. The initial launch led to long-term goals to increase sales, increase customer adoption with additional B2B segments, improve customer experience, and drive brand preference in its industry. 

Due to the desired increased capabilities and deadlines, the client continued to integrate Trility team members to increase capacity and provide expertise. Trility helped the team build out additional features and functionality on the product roadmap, including order tracking and management, streamlined sales workflows for B2B customers, and enhanced overall customer experience. 

In addition, these features would reduce operational costs by automating service requests, accessing warranty information, and providing clarity on product orders, such as lead times and manufacturing and delivery status. 

Solution Approach

Trility team members worked alongside the client’s team and brought expertise in quality assurance and testing, leading the order management effort, and integrating company and customer data for both mobile and web-based applications. Key areas included: 

  • Streamlined order management from initial quotes to warranty services 

  • Enhanced sales representative workflow

  • Built seamless login experience for B2B and internal customers using Okta

  • Sync sales/account owners and their customers

  • Functionality to allow a major retailer to log in and view lead times for product lines sold

  • Acceptance testing with 90% coverage, daily smoke and regression testing (roughly 13K executions), and human-readable test results with GitHub actions

  • API and browser monitoring for QA and production with alerts

  • Implemented online product help documentation for customers to easily access via links and QR codes

Outcomes

By integrating Trility team members, the client met milestones for the mobile and web-based apps to adapt to the additional customers and desired experiences and workflows to drive sales and close rates. 

The order management system was the first of its kind in this manufacturer's industry and enhanced the experiences of B2B customers and sales reps.

The modern information architecture developed for the mobile app became a foundation for other technology initiatives – including a web-desktop application to reach additional and future B2B segments.

These apps have led to operational time and cost savings for internal support and customer service, as B2B customers can log in or receive notifications for information previously only available by calling.

The testing and QA work led to accelerated development, enhanced security, and predictable and reliable app performance.
